Lowell Driving Experience: Session 7

Lowell Driver Experience Session 7:

It is not often you get a pat on the back and told you are doing a good job. This is exactly what was given to our driver David Ball as he completed the driving course with ease.
Our Professional Drivers were from a mix of different competitors.  They all had a story that brought them to J.B. Hunt Truckload.  Our office managers gained confidence and knowledge.  Aldea McClure, Caleb Garrett, and Taylor Wilson all helped make this class a success.
The #1 item that our newest drivers say they gained from the course was knowledge of our elog system and confidence in using the Peoplenet devices.

Waiting for their chance at the driving course is always nerve-wracking for the participants.  But, there were no complaints regarding weather this week as everyone enjoyed the sunshine and camaraderie.  The philosophy with our driving course is for all of our Professional Drivers to rally around each other and share support.
We use roping and saw horses to help keep the course as safe as possible for all attendee's.
As always, one of the most beneficial sessions is the ELD and Peoplenet training with Safety Manager Bo Hardy.  Spending time walking through the details can make all the difference to our drivers.  This is one of the main areas of being efficient and making money.  This portion of the class literally changes lives and makes our people more effective in the trucks.

Truckload Fleet Managers Amy Childress and Laura Pilcher enjoyed sporting the fashionable safety vests and gaining confidence on our driving course.
Safety Manager Guy Sullivan took the lead for the first time this week as he walked through the 7 crucial steps to a proper pre-trip inspection.   Our goal is to have more of our managers gaining proficiency so we have a level of confidence about our equipment and safety practices.
