Fuel On Hand---Need or Nuisance?

We added a senior driver from Truckload to our Fuel On Hand Pilot.  This is the project to eliminate the messaging that our drivers get inquiring the fuel that they have on hand.  Here was our first input from our driver:

We spoke with our driver today to follow up and things are much better. He said everything was working perfect and he was very appreciative that we were able to resolve.

Comments from a J.B. Hunt Truckload Driver

I know I spend a lot of time telling you whats "not right."  I have spent very little time telling what is going well.  My qoute is when J.B. Hunt gets something right, they tend to go overboard.  This is true of Truckload right now.  My job is FUN for a change, my truck is a blessing, and my fleet manager and operations manager are friends.  My company is finally something I believe in.  Thank You!

Gateway To The West-J.B. Hunt St Louis

Ed Page and Paul Olivieri visited our St Louis facility earlier this week to show our support for our Professional Drivers and Maintenance Technicians during Appreciation Day.  Here are some photo's of our people that support our business.

This is our St Louis trailer shop.
Our tractor shop is vital for our AB account for DCS.  Our Truckload fleet domiciles 20 units at this shop.
Bigger Trucks for our 72" Cascadia option arrive in St Louis for our Eastern Network Drivers.

Driver Appreciation was the reason for our visit.  It looks like the fixings were fantastic.

Bigger Truck Testimonial

Here is a great note from Mike Pettyjohn, one of our Truckload Professional Drivers.

"I have one of the new trucks---#325832 to be exact.  They are very nice and comfortable.  My Fleet Manager Peter Skarda and my Operations Manager Blake Calhoun got me the tractor 3 weeks ago.  They are great guys and I thanked them both. I was also by the Columbus, Ohio terminal and filled out the survey concerning properties and amenities.  I like the changes I see happening.  Keep up the good work! It is very much appreciated."

That will fire you up to keep pushing improvements across our division.

Big Props to Jon Brooks

We received this from one of our Professional Drivers tonight:

I just wanted to give an awesome feedback on Jon Brooks. I have nothing to say other than what took you so long to give me this outstanding Fleet Manager. LOL. Thank you so much. There isn't anything negative to say other then I am so happy to have him as my DM. I am starting to see a better out look in the company. Also, just wanted to say I know I can be a pain but my case was legit. I have taken this negative and turned it into a great positive. Again thank you for getting me this great Fleet Manager.

New Addition to Truckload PeopleNet Information

This button is now available to our drivers in the Truckload division.  Here is the official announcement:

Our Terminal Button is now live.  Please make sure you people continue to communicate it's availability to our drivers. Keep in mind that this is for PeopleNet units. It is very helpful in informing drivers of terminal/rail ramp locations along their intended routes as well as the amenities available. We will continue to add information as we go forward. Drivers will need to log off of the unit and then back on for this to be available. Our point of contact on our floor is Mike Agnew.

This is another example of our IT team bringing value to our business with a customized approach.  We are going to monitor the buttons performance and if it works as expected we will share with the enterprise (Intermodal, DCS, PCS, ICS).

4th Quarter Safety Training

Don't forget.  Our 4th Quarter Safety Training is an interactive form of education.  Included in this training are the following subjects:

Unassigned Driving/Logging In/Out of PeopleNet
Navigo 5.1
Transflo
Slips, Trips, and Falls/Liftgate Safety
Winter Driving Preparation

As a leader, it is always good to have the training assigned to you so you know how extensive the training is and you can help coach your Professional Drivers on the subject matter.

How Ya Like Me Now?

We got ourselves a billboard and it's all ours!  This FREE billboard is located in North Little Rock, Arkansas on I-40.  It is really a spectacular representation of our new trucks/pay plan.  Hope you are as proud of this advertising as the Truck Blogger!

Ein Prosit! Root Beer Challenge 2014

Munich,Germany did not seem so far away last Friday on the 4th floor in Lowell, Arkansas.  Our Truckload team had 10 competitors who attempted to drink these liter glasses of Root Beer.
Our competitors were quick and all seemed to be good sports.
 Our winner was Jonathon Dowdy!

Are You Ready For Some Million Milers?

No, this is not Hank Williams Jr!  This is the one and only Chuck Banks.  We met up with Chuck on the Southgate yard this week.  He had planned on not attending our 2 & 3 Million Mile Banquet.  He currently drives for Intermodal as a regional employee.  Chuck lives outside of Las Vegas, Nevada.  After some gentle nudging Chuck agreed to attend the prestigious event.  That is a round trip ticket iin Chucks shirt pocket.  Can't wait to see you in Lowell, Arkansas next week!

Northern California-Stockton, CA Teminal Profile

Here is our newer property in Stockton, CA.  This building houses the entire Intermodal team.

The Intermodal planning and dispatch team is set up in a bullpen fashion.

This building is the original structure in Stockton, CA.  It offices our orientation/safety staff and our maintenance team.

Get Your Kicks On Route 66

Don't think we came to Lower California and didn't touch San Bernardino.  This location is a major rail hub and is the old BNSF site:
This is one of 14 locomotives that I saw on two tracks.  The average higher end AC locomotive costs $2.3m to build today.  These locomotives are good for a million miles before their first overhaul.
Here is our location right next door to the BNSF facility.
This is the two story office space utilized by our Intermodal team and specific accounts with DCS.
Our facility features a full service truck and trailer repair facility as well as a truck and trailer wash.
The upstairs portion of our facility has a very nice meeting space for safety, operations or maintenance to utilize.

California Dreamin in Southgate

Today Mike Taylor and I visited our Southgate, California terminal.  Here is a picture of the main operations building.

This building is our newly renovated safety center that is used for orientation and training.

Here is a shot of orientation classroom.
The shop facility is able to service tractors and containers/trailers.
Mike Taylor spots an old friend.  Pete Diaz currently drives for our intermodal team out of Southgate.

Aaron Regalado greeted us when we arrived to Southgate.  The facilities have undergone a great deal of renovation in the past year.
