Lowell Driver Experience

Session 10:

Taking the reins this week during the Lowell Driver Experience are the Fleet Managers and Operations Managers from our Truckload Team.

We had another great group this week led by Operations Manager Ryan Ardary. In attendance were Norman Phelps, Timothy Van, Rickey Baker (kneeling), Warren Mosley, Lance Allen, Salvador Villarreal and Thomas Minchew.

Taking full advantage of the learning experience in Lowell are Professional  Drivers Tim Van, Rickey Baker and a few of our managers including Floyd Couch (LP/Operations Manager), Fred Woodruff (LP/Fleet Manager), Ashley Stevens (Fleet Manager), Guy Sullivan (safety Area Risk Manager), Chris Free (Fleet Manager)  and Jenny Weldon (Automotive Team Operations Manager).

Driver Employee #44 with J.B. Hunt, Mrs Tracy Clark is on the course showing our crew how it is done correctly. Tracy offers advice on handling the corners and using good judgement during tight quarter manuevers.

The driving course is designed to force our Professional Drivers to think.  We want to encourage them to use the technique of "GOAL" . Safety is not luck.  We maintain a safe working environment by taking the time to get out and look before deciding the next step.

We continue to hear great questions and recommendations when walking through the Pre-Trip inspection part of our day. Everyone has a different way of conducting their Pre-Trip inspection and it is refreshing to hear good answers given when questions are asked.

Deb Beecher, our safety Area Risk Manager is shown above teaching Fleet Manager David Groves the correct method for pre-tripping equipment. Next week David will be the one instructing our new employees.

Area Risk Manager Bo Hardy is shown above demonstrating the techniques to understanding and operating our Peoplenet unit with ease. Next week Fleet Manager Ashley Stevens will take this class on as the instructor.

The Lowell Driver Experience is not only a great opportunity for our Drivers to meet their managers and team. It is also an opportunity for our managers to gain understanding of what our drivers are doing out there on the road day in and day out.  The training benefits will involve our entire team and will continue to do so as we bring our teammates into the Home Office.
